Next Generation of Aviation Professionals Symposium 2014

ICAO COLLECTS RESPONSIBLE WORKERS OF CIVIL AVIATION FROM THE WORLD TO DISCUSS ISSUES OF QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES 

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO ) will be happy to welcome students and leaders, both young and mature, who work in civil aviation, at the Symposium on Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP), which will be held from 3 to 4 December at Headquarters of Organization in Montreal.

The purpose of NGAP ICAO initiatives – is training an adequate number of qualified and competent aviation professionals who need to operate, maintain the future international air transport system and to manage them. The solution of problematic issues that are raised in the framework of this initiative, has played a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of the Global Plan of ensuring safety flight and the Global Air Navigation Plan for the long term and it is an important contribution to a specialized agency UN in the field of civil aviation in the implementation of measures, which are related to the increase of the total volume of passenger traffic and the number of flights, according to the latest forecasts by half to 2030.

"Almost all the priority areas of work for the coming decades for international civil aviation are caused by the projected doubling of traffic volumes in our infrastructure" - said the President of the ICAO Council, Dr. Olumuiva Benard Aliu. "The prospect in the near future will be faced with a catastrophic shortage of pilots, aircraft engineers and air traffic controllers and the need to accelerate the process of training and certification of aviation specialists and new management personnel, that will have to coordinate their work - this is the key problem, for which, as well as and to ensure the future viability and sustainability of our global system will require leadership and action by ICAO".

Second ICAO Symposium on NGAP, which takes place under the slogan "Celebrate the achievements of the past, prepare for the future" and dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Chicago Convention, will give participants the opportunity to exchange information on best practices and new media training. Managers who work in civil aviation will also be able to get acquainted with the different processes of selection and recruitment of candidates and with the way of development of internationally agreed qualifications relate to specific professions in the field of civil aviation.

The symposium will emphasize the need for closer regional cooperation on these issues , as well as draw attention to the alignment of the ICAO position with regard to implementation of the standards and capabilities of civil aviation at the minimum required level for each of its 191 Member States to continue to work on a global scale .
